Genus Jaschnovia

Jaschnovia Markhaseva, 1980

Taxonomic description:

Female. Total length 2.15-2.50 mm. Cephalothorax 3.1-4.0 times longer than abdomen. Body of oval, or elongate-oval shape, anterior end of cephalon rounded. Crest and rostrum absent. Cephalon and Th1 fused, sometimes indistinctly separated. Between Th4 and Th5 often the suture of fusion is visible, Th5 posterior corners rounded, or pointed. Th5 and genital segment symmetrical. Cephalothorax about 3-4 times longer than abdomen, back side of genital segment with minute spinules, posterior borders of abdominal segments supplied with minute spinules. Genital segment of female as long as, or slightly longer than two following segments together. A1 24-segmented, nearly as long as cephalothorax, or slightly shorter, or slightly longer. A2 with 7-segmented Re, longer than 2-segmented Ri; coxopodite with 1 seta, basipodite with 2; Re1 and Re2 A2 with 2 setae each, Re3-Re6 with 1 long setae each, Re7 with 3 long terminal setae; Ri1 A2 with 2 setae in distal part, Ri2 A2 with 13-14 (6-7 setae on external and 7 on internal lobe). Md palp base with 2 setae, Ri 2-segmented, half as long or less than Re, Ri1 Md with 2, Ri2 Md with 9 setae. Mx1 gnathobase with 9 claw-like terminal spines and 4 setae on its posterior surface, distal part of this lobe with group of spinules; second internal lobe with 5 setae, third with 4, in distal part of later lobe there are surface spinules; protopodite near Ri base with 5 setae, Ri with 15-16; Re with 10 setae. Mx2 endites with minute spinules near setae bases, limb typical of Aetideidae; one of setae on fifth endite thickened into claw-like, in distal part of Ri 6 setae. Mxp protopodite supplied with 1 long seta in proximal part, then groups of 2, 3 and 3 setae; digital appendage absent. Ri1 Mxp slightly longer than protopodite, supplied in distal part with 3 setae. P1-P4 with 3-segmented Re, only Ri P1 one-segmented, Ri P2 2-segmented. Re1 P1 lacking external spine, Re2-Re3 P1 with external spine each. Posterior surface of Re2-Re3, Ri1-Ri3 or all Ri segments and P4 coxopodite with minute spinules. In distal part of coxopodite P4 near internal seta base there is a group of 6-8 larger spines.

Male. Total length 1.85-2.30 mm. Cephalothorax 2.7-2.8 times longer than abdomen. Rostrum absent. Posterior Th5 corners rounded (lateral view), when looking dorsally slightly pointed and curved externally. A1 23-segmented, reaching the middle, or posterior border of genital segment. Oral parts in comparison with that in females rudimentary. P1-P4 as in females, not so strongly covered with surface spinules. P5 biramous, right Ri indistinctly 2-segmented, left one-segmented. P5 of simple structure. Right Re P5 2-segmented. Proximal part of right Re2 P5 with group of spinules on lateral surface and with dense thin hairs along internal margin; right Re2 P5 ending with long curved spine. Left Re P5 3-segmented; Re1 P5 with dense thin hairs along internal margin, Re2 P5 swelled and bears group of hairs in its distal part, Re3 is the shortest and prolonged into spine distally and also supplied with hairs in proximal part of its internal margin.
