Short Description:

Pseudeuchaeta magna is an aetideid calanoid copepod known after female (9.4 mm in length)

Taxonomic Description:

Female. (Description after Bradford, (1969b) with modifications). Total length 9.4 mm. Cephalothorax 4 times longer than abdomen. Rostrum blunt, rounded, rudimentary. Posterior Th5 corners prolonged into short points, directed straight backwards (lateral view). A1 reaching nearly the end of cephalothorax. A2, Mx1 and Mx2 typical of the genus. Ri2 Md with 4 setae, otherwise limb typical of the genus. Digital appendage on Mxp protopodite not longer than adjacent setae. Mx1 with 1 seta on gnathobase and 2 and 3 setae on second and third internal lobes respectively, Ri with 14 setae, external lobe with 9 setae. External spine on Re1 P1 absent. Terminal spines on Re3 P2-P4 with 42, 38 and 41 teeth respectively.

Male unknown.

Vertical distribution:

In haul from 1700 m near bottom. Very probably benthopelagic species.

Geographical distribution:

The species is known of type locality only.

Type locality: 34°38'N 174°34'E.

Material examined:

The species absent in the collections of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg.
