Short Description:

Pseudochirella lobata is an aetideid calanoid copepod known after female (6.50 mm in length) from the North Atlantic.

Taxonomic Description:

Female. (Description after Sars (1924-25) with modifications). Total length 6.50 mm. Cephalothorax about 4 times longer than abdomen. Lobes of Th5 posterior corners rounded, not reaching the midlength of genital segment. Genital segment symmetrical (dorsal view), more broadened in its midlength. Abd2-3 covered with hairs. A1 reaching the midlength of abdomen. Re P1 3-segmented. Ri P2 2-segmented. P4 coxopodite with row of fan-like 12 small spines.

Male unknown.

Vertical distribution:

The species was found in total haul from 2500 m (Sars, 1925).

Geographical distribution:

The species is known of the type locality only.

Type locality: 38°04'N 26°07'W.

Material examined:

The species absent in the collections of the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg.
